What awaits you
Your role in the central international DesignOps team of the BMW Group IT is to implement and further develop the UX strategy within the BMW IT strategy, together with other UX specialists from the Center of Competence for User Experience (UX Live Centers)
- Establish user-centered design as an integral part of agile product development across BMW Group IT and international hubs
- Develop and scale central UX/UI services (e.g., BMW Group design system, UX/UI toolchain, UX metrics, user feedback services, analytics platforms)
- Consult and coach internal teams on UX and UI design principles
- Embed UX as a strategic capability, focusing on AI-integrated workflows, platforms, and responsible AI adoption
- Facilitate workshops, mentor designers, and foster a premium UX culture across all TechWorks locations
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (product managers, developers, business owners) to ensure that solutions are user-focused, innovative, and technically feasible
- Maintain and evolve design systems and patterns, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and scalability
- Create wireframes, mockups, and high-fidelity prototypes using Figma
- Deliver visually appealing, intuitive, and user-centric designs across web and mobile platforms
- Contribute to the BMW design system by defining reusable components and interaction models
- Conduct user research including interviews, surveys, and usability tests
- Interpret and transform business and user needs into meaningful design solutions
- Use AI tools to support data analysis, personalization, and design decision-making
- Leverage AI-assisted methodologies like prompt engineering, conversational UX, and ethically sound AI UX patterns
What should you bring along
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field
- Proven experience as a UI/UX Designer or a similar role for at least 5-7 years of experience, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work, preferably with leadership experience
- Proficiency in Figma and other design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, etc.)
- Strong understanding of UX principles, interaction design, and information architecture
- Excellent visual design skills, with a keen eye for detail and aesthetics
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and decisions clearly
- Experience in the conception of user interfaces for web-based applications (ideally enterprise applications and/or automotive environment) including responsive design
- Extensive knowledge in user experience, user centered design, usability, information architecture and the corresponding foundations and best practices
- Extensive experience in the entire spectrum of user-centered design, from user research, to prototyping and UX/UI design to usability testing
- Extensive experience working with agile product teams
- Experience in using design and prototyping tools (ideally Figma)
- Familiarity with AI tooling (e.g., OpenAI API, Prompt Engineering, AI UX patterns) is a strong plus
- Excellent communication skills and team-oriented work behaviour in a distributed team
- Strong ability to understand and interpret business needs and requirements with the ability to move concepts through to proposal and finally successful implementation
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and written) with both technical and non-technical colleagues / users internationally.
- Proficiency in leveraging AI tools for user research, data analysis, personalization, and collaboration with data scientists to enhance UX design processes in DesignOps
- Knowledge of HTML/CSS and basic understanding of front-end development
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
