We are looking for an experienced Linux Administrator to support SUSE Linux Enterprise Server environments across development, test, and production systems.

The role combines operational support, system administration, incident resolution, infrastructure integration, and continuous improvement. It operates within a 24x7 service model organized across three shifts. Candidates must be willing and able to work in shifts according to the agreed support schedule.

 


What you’ll be doing

 

  • Provide L2 operational support for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server environments across development, test, and production systems.
  • Proactively monitor Linux servers to ensure high availability, performance, capacity, and system stability.
  • Respond to incidents and service requests within the agreed service-level targets.
  • Perform advanced command-line troubleshooting involving system logs, services, processes, storage, and network components.
  • Participate in customer and internal bridge calls, clearly communicating technical status, service impact, actions, and resolution progress.
  • Support lifecycle activities, including operating-system patching, updates, and upgrades.
  • Perform technical changes in accordance with established change and release management processes.
  • Perform end-to-end SLES administration, including user and group management, file systems, storage, processes, and service control.
  • Manage software packages, patches, updates, and repositories using native SUSE tools such as Zypper and YaST.
  • Configure and maintain Linux security controls, including firewalls, SSH, access permissions, auditing, and system hardening.
  • Administer clustering solutions such as Pacemaker to support high availability and failover.
  • Monitor system resource utilization and perform capacity and performance optimization.
  • Support virtualization environments and administer Linux virtual machines across different hypervisor platforms.
  • Provide basic Windows Server administration support when required.
  • Support the integration of Linux environments with VMware, Hyper-V, Azure Virtual Machines, and other virtualization platforms.
  • Assist with Azure-based Linux workloads, including virtual-machine provisioning, storage, networking, and monitoring.
  • Perform basic network troubleshooting, including IP configuration, DNS, routing, port, and connectivity checks.
  • Support backup and restoration activities.
  • Coordinate with backup teams to validate job completion and troubleshoot backup or restore failures.
  • Analyze infrastructure dependencies when incidents require investigation across multiple technical domains.
  • Collaborate with network, storage, virtualization, cloud, database, and application teams to restore services.
  • Process incidents, service requests, problems, and changes using ServiceNow and SPC.
  • Triage and prioritize tickets based on impact, urgency, and agreed SLAs.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and document corrective and preventive measures.
  • Follow structured incident, problem, change, and release management processes.
  • Escalate risks, delays, and unresolved technical issues to the appropriate support or leadership teams.
  • Maintain system documentation, operational runbooks, troubleshooting procedures, and knowledge-base articles.
  • Ensure accurate ticket updates, resolution details, and shift-handover information.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional infrastructure, application, database, SAP, security, and cloud teams.
  • Contribute to automation initiatives using shell scripting and other appropriate automation methods.
  • Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, performance, monitoring, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide technical guidance, knowledge transfer, and mentoring to junior team members.
  • Stay current with SUSE Linux updates, security advisories, emerging technologies, and industry best practices.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of operational standards and service quality.

 


What you’ll bring along

 

  • Hands-on experience administering SUSE Linux Enterprise Server environments.
  • Strong command-line administration and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Experience supporting Linux systems in development, test, and production environments.
  • Knowledge of Linux user management, file systems, storage, processes, services, and package administration.
  • Practical experience with Zypper, YaST, repositories, patching, and operating-system upgrades.
  • Knowledge of Linux security, including SSH, firewalls, permissions, auditing, and system hardening.
  • Experience with high-availability clustering technologies such as Pacemaker.
  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms and virtual-machine administration.
  • Basic knowledge of IP networking, DNS, routing, and connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Experience with backup, restore, monitoring, and capacity-management activities.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow, SPC, or comparable ITSM and ticketing tools.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Good customer-facing communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to document technical activities clearly and accurately.
  • Nice to have: experience supporting Linux workloads hosted on Microsoft Azure.
  • Knowledge of VMware, Hyper-V, Azure Virtual Machines, or other hypervisor platforms.
  • Basic Windows Server administration experience.
  • Shell scripting or infrastructure automation experience.
  • Linux, SUSE, Microsoft Azure, ITIL, or other relevant technical certifications.
  • Experience supporting business-critical or SAP-related Linux environments.
  • Previous experience providing guidance or mentoring to junior administrators.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work in a 24x7 rotating three-shift schedule.
