What you'll be doing
- Providing Level 2 operational support, troubleshooting, and optimization for live and on-demand video streaming platforms.
- Supporting enterprise, broadcast, and OTT video streaming services to ensure high availability, performance, and quality of service delivery.
- Troubleshooting and resolving complex streaming, encoding, delivery, playback, latency, and quality-related issues.
- Investigating and resolving incidents escalated from Level 1 support within agreed SLA timelines, while ensuring accurate ticket updates and operational documentation.
- Performing root cause analysis for recurring or complex streaming issues and implementing preventative and permanent fixes.
- Monitoring stream health, latency, bitrate, QoS, QoE, service availability, and viewer experience indicators.
- Supporting live events, broadcasts, and high-profile streaming sessions, including time-critical incident response and service validation.
- Configuring and maintaining streaming infrastructure, encoders, transcoders, players, CDNs, and related platform components.
- Assisting with onboarding new channels, customers, streaming workflows, and operational procedures.
- Applying software updates, configuration changes, and patches in accordance with approved change management processes.
- Liaising with vendors, CDN providers, and third-party partners during incidents, escalations, and service improvement activities.
- Analyzing logs, metrics, alerts, and network traffic to isolate issues and support effective incident resolution.
- Maintaining and improving technical documentation, runbooks, operational procedures, incident reports, and knowledge base articles.
- Providing technical guidance and mentoring to Level 1 engineers to improve first-line resolution capability and knowledge sharing.
- Participating in on-call and out-of-hours support rotations for live events, critical broadcasts, and major service incidents.
- Identifying opportunities for automation, service improvement, and operational efficiency across streaming support processes.
- Ensuring all activities comply with security, governance, compliance, and audit requirements.
What you'll bring along
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Broadcast Engineering, Media Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum 3- 5 years of experience in video streaming, broadcast engineering, media operations, or related managed services environments.
- Experience supporting live streaming, video-on-demand platforms, OTT services, or enterprise video delivery environments.
- Hands-on experience supporting live events, high-profile streaming sessions, and time-critical broadcasts.
- Experience working in a NOC, broadcast operations, service desk, or managed services environment.
- Solid understanding of video streaming architectures, workflows, delivery chains, and operational support models.
- Strong knowledge of streaming protocols, including HLS, DASH, RTMP, SRT, and WebRTC.
- Knowledge of video codecs and formats, including H.264/AVC, H.265/HEVC, VP9, and AV1.
- Knowledge of audio codecs, including AAC, MP3, and Opus.
- Experience working with encoders and transcoders such as FFmpeg, AWS Elemental, Wowza, and OBS.
- Familiarity with CDN technologies and providers, including Kollective.
- Ability to analyze logs, metrics, alerts, and network traffic to isolate and resolve streaming issues.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills under time-sensitive and high-pressure conditions.
- Calm and methodical approach during live incidents, service degradation, and broadcast-impacting events.
- Customer-focused mindset with strong attention to service quality, viewer experience, performance, and reliability.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, vendors, CDN providers, and third-party partners.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent incidents, priorities, escalations, and SLA-driven activities effectively.
- Detail-oriented approach with strong documentation, reporting, and knowledge-sharing skills.
- Familiarity with incident, problem, change, and release management processes.
- Willingness to learn emerging streaming technologies, standards, tools, and delivery models.
- Excellent command of both spoken and written English and German.
