 Who we are

 

Lead the technical aspects of data engineering projects working in an agile manner to deliver fit for purpose ETL solutions. Rapidly prototype and develop tactical pipeline solutions and work with the Group Data Warehouse team to embed strategically. Develop data layers and views to enable Data Analysts and Data Scientists to efficiently undertake their work. 


The role of the Data Engineer is to collaborate with team members to deliver technical aspects of projects, ensuring solutions are designed, built, and implemented effectively to meet business requirements and align with the company's technology strategy and standards. The role involves hands-on development, engaging in modern data engineering practices to enrich and manage the company's data solutions, including cloud-based data warehouses and data lakes, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and the delivery of value to the business.
 
What you'll be doing

 

  • Ensure solutions developed are compliant with GDPR, meet business requirements, adhere to internal quality, documentation standards, and deliver intended value
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders, providing advice and guidance on data solutions to improve their knowledge and understanding
  • Accountable for the timely delivery of data solutions to the business, aiming for automation and standardization to support business requirements
  • Continuously develop processes for efficiency and performance improvement, ensuring code is scalable, portable, and reusable
  • Ensure familiarity with IT controls and adhere to them as part of the solution development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Work within an Agile delivery framework, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of data solutions to the business that align to requirements
  • Provide input into team and project planning activities, converting user stories into technical tasks
  • Consumer Duty accountabilities - Engage stakeholders and undertake and appropriate testing prior to the implementation of any system or business changes to ensure the impact on internal stakeholders and customers is understood


What you'll bring along

 

  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in data engineering
  • Proficient in database technology, including cloud platforms such as Snowflake
  • Use of Python for data manipulation
  • Familiar with modern project delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.)
  • Understanding of dimensional/schematic modelling and design
  • Experience with data integration, ETL/ELT, and data management practices
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly and logically, tailoring language and tools to suit the audience
  • Demonstrated experience in data engineering, including hands-on development with relevant tools and technologies
  • Experience in defining and documenting data solutions, including complex dimensional models
  • Delivering change within a highly regulated environment, with test and release management experience
  • Advanced proficiency in English (written and spoken)
  • Excellent communication skills with a high degree of customer focus
