By joining our project, you will be working on an initiative of the European Commission focused on creating a more efficient, modern and secure customs environment within the European Union. Being part of this initiative set on a 5 years’ timeline, you will have the opportunity to work on topics such as digitalization of customs processes, streamlining customs procedures to facilitate trade and reduce costs, harmonization of customs rules across all EU member states and combating fraud.
This purposeful project will not only give you the opportunity to have an impact on one of the key topics within the European Union, it will also offer you various professional opportunities, let you experience a collaborative environment, using cutting-edge technologies and experiencing diversity in your everyday professional life.
What you'll be doing
- Installing, configuring, and upgrading Oracle database software and related products.
- Designing and implementing database structures, storage, and backup strategies.
- Monitoring database performance and applying tuning techniques to ensure high availability and responsiveness.
- Ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance with internal and external standards.
- Managing user access, roles, and privileges in accordance with security policies.
- Performing regular database backups and recovery testing.
- Troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues promptly.
- Collaborating with application developers, system administrators, and project teams to support database requirements.
- Documenting database configurations, procedures, and best practices.
What you'll bring along
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (A Master’s degree or MBA is preferred).
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a similar role.
- Strong expertise in Oracle Database administration.
- Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and performance tuning techniques.
- Experience with Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, and RMAN.
- Solid understanding of database security, backup, and recovery strategies.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix operating systems.
- Knowledge of ITIL processes and change management practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
- Exposure to automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform) for database provisioning (desirable).
- Familiarity with monitoring tools and performance dashboards (desirable).
- Oracle certifications (e.g., OCP – Oracle Certified Professional) are a plus.
- Excellent command of both spoken and written English (any other European language would be a plus).
